Undergraduate University:

The University of Texas Medical School at Houston
Coming from an economically disadvantaged family, I could never have afforded the MCAT training course to help me prepare for one of the most important tests of my life. JAMP provided me with free access to Kaplan and to a summer intensive MCAT course. For that I am very grateful. Also, thanks to JAMP, I was able to interview at all the medical schools in Texas and was provided with a guaranteed spot into one of them.
How has JAMP helped you as you strive to achieve your goal of becoming a doctor?
JAMP has been with me every step of the way ever since I got accepted into the program.

I got accepted into UT Houston Medical School and every year, JAMP has provided me
with a scholarship to help pay for my schooling. Through hard work on my part and
JAMP’s help, I am only a couple of months away from achieving my goal of becoming
a doctor. I am very thankful to JAMP for everything it has done for me.
What advice would you like to offer current or future JAMP students?
My advice is to current JAMP students is to keep working hard and to take advantage
of all that JAMP has to offer in helping them get into medical school. It is a great
program and as long as they work hard, JAMP will equally work hard for them.
For both current and future JAMP students: ALWAYS believe in yourself. The road to
becoming a doctor is not an easy one but through dedication, hard work, and with the
help of JAMP becoming a doctor is very possible.
What aspect of JAMP has been most beneficial to you?
The scholarships have been a great help to me in reducing the amount of loans I take
out every year. During my MCAT summer intensive course, I had Leila Diaz currently
the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Diversity at Texas A&M Health Science Center
as my mentor. She was always available to help raise my spirits whenever I got stressed
about the MCAT and she also helped me perfect my medical school personal statement
by proof reading it multiple times. She provided me with great advice and I am very
grateful to her for all that she did for me.
