Applying to JAMP
The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP), established by the Texas Legislature in 2001, is a uniquely Texan workforce pipeline to medicine program. State leaders knew that many talented students that dreamed of serving others as physician came from a low socioeconomic status and thus faced significant challenges in achieving this goal. JAMP was established to minimize these challenges for highly qualified but economically disadvantaged Texas resident students by providing them the financial support and mentoring needed to be successful.
The application for Entry Year 2026 opens on
Wednesday, May 1, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Central Time.
Recommended date for JAMP Application submission: September 19, 2025.
The deadline to submit your application is
Thursday, October 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time.

JAMP Eligibility Checklist
Criteria Overview
- Enroll in college. Enroll in an institution of higher education not later than the first fall semester following graduation from high school or a home-schooled program.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student at a participating Texas college or university at time of application.
- Apply for Financial Aid. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have an SAI Range -1500 to 7000 or Pell Eligible.
- Complete at least 27 hours of undergraduate credit.
- Early Admission: Earn at least 27 hours of college credit during Senior year of high school as a full-time student (Dual Credit or Early College high school) including two semesters of General Chemistry with associated labs with a grade of "C" or better. (No more than 3 hours of AP credit can be counted toward the 27-hour requirement).
- Regular Admission: Complete at least 27 hours of college credit during first year of college after graduation from high school as a full-time student including two semesters of General Chemistry with associated labs with a grade of "C" or better. (No more than 3 hours of AP credit can be counted toward the 27-hour requirement).
- Earn a 3.25 GPA or higher and 3.25 BCPM GPA in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math courses.
- Please note that the JAMP Entry Year 2027 (EY27) Application will include an updated
GPA eligibility requirement:
- A 3.4 overall GPA is required to apply.
- The 3.25 BCPM GPA remains unchanged.

- Meet with the JAMP Faculty Director (JFD). The JFD at your school will provide academic advising and assistance in applying to JAMP. Contact your JFD prior to beginning your application to JAMP.
- Apply to JAMP. Click on the 'Applicants Log In' link at the top of any page of our website.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and be a Texas Resident. Please refer to the TMDSAS Texas residency page for more information.
*Criteria Update! SAT/ACT scores are no longer required to apply to JAMP.

Applicants to JAMP may elect to apply through the Early Admission Track or the Regular Admission Track to be considered for the program
The Early Admission Track allows applicants that have completed 27 or more hours of college credit as a full-time student the opportunity to apply early.
Early Admission applicants should have completed 27 hours of college credit during their Senior year of high school as a full-time student.To apply through the Early Admission Track, you must:

Be enrolled full time at a participating institution in your first semester of college.

Complete at least 27 hours of College Credit from high school (Dual Credit or Early College high school) during Senior Year as a full-time student.

Have two semesters of General Chemistry with associated labs completed with a grade of "C" or better.

Meet all other JAMP criteria.
The Regular Admission Track requires applicants to complete 27 hours of college credit after graduation from high school during the first year of college as a full-time student.
To apply through the Regular Admission Track, you must:

Be enrolled full time at a participating institution in your second year of college.

Complete at least 27 hours during first year of college immediately following graduation from high school as a full-time student.

Have two semesters of General Chemistry with associated labs completed with a grade of "C" or better.

Meet all other JAMP criteria.
